Trio RED - Fenris bracelets by tishaia Trio RED - Fenris bracelets by tishaia
There is something about the colour red that makes it really special. It has so many different meanings, so many connotations... Think where you have seen it. There is the red stripe on Commander Shepard armor that demands attention, speaks about being a leader and about being ready for whatever comes next. There are red signs on Hawke's skin, the blood magic signs that shows passion and strenght to do what is necessery even if it's sacrificing your own chances for the people you care about. There is red on Ezio's belt that is a warning and a promise. Red often means danger, the colour of blood warning you to stay away. But there is also red on the lovers lips that have been kissed just right, calling to you, luring you closer to touch, to taste.
Sometimes it's hard to tell what red means in this or that place, is it safe to go there? Sometimes you can't find words to describe it. But there is no way you will not notice the red cloth tied around that special someone's wrist just a few hours after the night you spend together. He says that he can't be with you, can't stand it, but you still see this red stigma on him, day after day, month after month. Red band proudly speaking of passion, of loyality, of love, of being drawn to someone despite all the risks. And isn't that the closest meaning, the biggest contradiction of them all?

I was asked to make something Fenris themed with the quote "Nothing could be worse than the thought of living without you". I really liked to try making red cloth again after my previous Assassin's Creed bracelet, so it kind of made sense for me that I should try a bracelet for Fenris piece. In the end I made three of them ^^. They all have the quote, the roses (I don't know why, but I always make Fenris' themed items with roses ~~. Must be something about the thorns :P) and the red cloth. All are made of precolored polymer clay on the wooden core. I made the ornaments mostly flat so they would be more durable. They are painted with protective varish. The insides are painted with silver acrylic paint.
All bracelets have around 70mm in diameter, bigger one is 4cm hign, the smaller ones are 2 cm high each.
All the text is handwritten, bracelets are handmade and one of a kind :).

If you would like to have a closer look, here are the additional photos of each bracelet:

I'm sure you get this ALL THE TIME, but: how did you get the texture for the cloth? And also, will you be making any more of these? :) I am so in love with everything in your gallery!

Haha, thank you so much! XD It's really simple, I pressed a real cloth to the clay and the texture stayed :D. Ans sorry, I'm not reamking my items, they are nearly all one of a kind, (not enouth time and too much new ideas for that ;D) but I will make some more Dragon Age related items for sure ;D.

Every time I do crafts like this, when I put it on a flat surface before baking the patterns on the clay would get smoothed out...any tips?

Hey! It depends on the piece really. I prefer to work with dryer clay, to it's a little harder and not so squishy and the second thing is, the protruding parts tend to break and fall off and I'm kind of a freak when it comes to durability of my itemsssss... What I mean to say is I don't encounter this problem too often and I'm not sure there is one universal thing to do. If you are talking about the bracelets though, I am making an elaborate construction in my oven so they would hang on a stick, so maybe that will help a little? :D If it comes to two sided pendants and both sides have patterns I usually bake them sparately and then glue them together after. Hope it helps and dont hesitate to ask if I can help with anything! :D

Wow you really have a lot of cool ideas huh? ^^ love the tip you gave, thanks! But you do you make all your pieces so durable? Some clay brands are not as durable...

To keep our conversation in one place:
I use Fimo clay and I love it. It has really amazing colors and it mixes well, not to mention I am totally addicted to Metallic Fimo, I use A LOT of it, as you can see on most of my projects.
As for durability, I do try. First thing is the design, without the protruding parts, second that I often reinforce more delicate items with wire, for example this piece has thick wire inside all the way around the blue crustal, it's just you can't see it because it's masked inside the clay ^^. I also never bake the items more than twice and it can get complicated with some of the more elaborate pieces. Another thing is using the varnish, it not only intensifies the colors of the clay but it's an additional layer of protection.
Of course I'm still learning and experimenting, the durability is just something that's important to me.
Thank you so much for the nice words! :D
