The Biotic’s Heart - Kaidan Alenko Mass Effect inspired polymer clay pendant with Swarovski crystal in bermuda blue
. Handmade and one of a kind, no molds or stamps used, quote handwritten, I don’t even want to say how much time it took to make it,
but I promised Kaidan’s ispired piece a YEAR ago, so, here it is
. I used both screenshots from the game and the photo of Luciano Costa, Kaidan’s face model as a reference.
I think everyone who knows Mass Effect also know the history of Kaidan Alenko. I wanted to make something inspired by him for over a year but couldn't come up with the design. I wanted it to be very simple, military like in shape and colors, but also it should have some deeper meaning. I thought of this design when I was searching for a quote to put on the back of the pendant along with the Spectre emblem.
"There are two tragedies in life,
one is to lose your heart's desire,
the other is to gain it."
I really love how this quote by George Bernard Shaw has double meaning and even more so when it comes to Kaidan's life and his relation with Shepard. Kaidan lost his heart's desire when Shepard died, gained it when it turned out Shepard is alive and... did he lose it again at the end? Their story can be interpreted in many ways, just like this quote.
When I had a quote, coming up with a crystal in biotic colors and putting it where Kaidan's heart is, was easy. I'm still a little sad when I think about Kaidan's poor heart, but hey, the man is tough enough to take it, isn't he?
Pendant is made of precolored metallic polymer clay and Swarovski twist crystal in bermuda blue. Its' 75x35 mm and up to 8mm thick. The pendant is reinforced with the metal wire inside the clay. Pendant is laquered with protective matt varnish. I added a thick cotton cord with a snake knot to add more military vibe.
THIS ITEM IS ONE OF A KIND, and sculpted by hand, without any stamps or molds.
The pendant was made by me and it's not official merchandise.
Kaidan Alenko and Mass Effect belong to Bioware.
The colors on the photo might be slightly different that in reality depending on your PC monitor.
