I don't know about you, but I often doubt in my skills or abilities. And for me the best way is to force myself into creating again. The start is often difficult but about 1/3 in I usually already feel better. When I saw this quote I knew I have to make something with it, and what's better than a notebook, a tool for creating?
It's a perfect gift for someone who you think is talented but maybe need that extra puch to believe in themselves.
The journal base is Canson Art Book One, with 100 sheets of 100g/m2 white paper, perfect for sketching or just writing a new ideas for your stories. It's 10,2 x 15,2 cm (4x6 in). The cover is made of precolored metallic polymer clay. I used a deep sky blue glass bead and 17 vintage Swarovski zirconias in different shade of blue and green. The upper floral part and the dots on the bottom are touched up with extra fine glitter. The whole item is painted with protective varnish.
The cover is handmade from scratch, without the use of any molds, stamps or cutters. It's ONE OF A KIND.
I use gel super glue, it's the one you can find in hardware stores, at least in my country . I do everything before baking ^^. After, I just add a layer or two of protective varnish . Ah, I usually start the work with a flat sheet of clay I make using the pasta machine XD. Hope I helped a little and if you have any more questions, please ask .
Aha, I think I really need a sketchbook with this on the cover - not just because of the inspirational message but also because it is so beautifully crafted! Absolutely gorgeous - congratulations on the DD
I completely agree with your lines. Self doubt can make a complete damage in an artist trust. Sometimes it happens that I began to think just about what the others want to see and I forget that my art it's not about that. It must be our reflection. Great work tihe the book cover.
I love the quote and the book itself is absolutely beautiful! You definitely deserved your DD. I managed to outline a pattern onto pattern paper yesterday and I was doubting myself even doing that. Tomorrow I surge ahead with greater enthusiasm...thanks to you!
